Enchanted Orchid

 

 

 

 

I'm Pleased to announce the birth of my very first Orchid Baby~

 If you would like to grow orchids here's how: 

1.) After your Orchid blossoms have finished blooming, snip stem off at an angle, directly above the middle nub. 

2.) Place plant under a window, where it will get sunlight. 

3.) Water once a week with miracle grow in your  water, always on the same day.  Do not let plant sit in water, dump out excess. It doesn't take much!

4.) Do not baby your plant, in fact I was instructed to ignore my orchid by a woman who has more than 2000 plants.  ;-)  

5.)  Fact:   another woman I know has had one orchid plant that has bloomed for 24 years.

Create a Candy Necklace

Here is an easy way to make a gift or party favor.  Also, this would be fun activity for girls to make at a party.

You will need plastic wrap, scissors, candy, (disks or jawbreakers would be a great selection, besides what you see above) and coordinating ribbons.

Cut plastic wrap (length wise) the length you want your necklace too be, adding four inches to either end  If you want your necklace 36", cut 40".

Place candies in a line, and cover back and forth with plastic wrap,  sealing the candy in.  Spacing them, leave enough room between, for ribbon ties.

 

Tie the ribbon, knot, then snip off the ends.

 

Bring together the ends of plastic wrap.

 

Tie a knot joining the ends with ribbon, to create your necklace.

Two ~ Two ~ Two Skirts in One

Here's a simple idea that may inspire you.
Next time you find a terrific deal on a skirt,
 purchase two, instead of one.



Buy the first skirt in your size...



and the second one a bit larger.


Cut the top off the larger skirt and iron under the raw edges,  pin to the bottom of a matching color slip. Try on the under skirt, with the over skirt.  Make sure you like the length, that the two balance well together.

For the underskirt, sew the top of the lower skirt fabric onto the bottom of the slip, attaching the two together.  Make sure the slip fits snugly around your waist (as the skirt fabric will add weight).  If you need to make your slip fit more snugly, simply take in the sides seems of the waist (right sides together).

Worn together, these two skirts
create one stylish look~

The "Finger Eight" is quick method used to
 fold your ribbon.  If you've never tried
this technique before, it's an easy
 way to organize your collection.

Simulating Spring!

Can't wait for Spring?
Here's an easy way to create your own! 

You'll need:

A tree branch, 1 1/4" braid or fabric (this beautiful trim was a gift from Jenny F., belonging to her mother), scissors, green waxed floral tape, glue gun, glue sticks, additional flowers (optional).

The Method:

cut braid or fabric into pieces around 2 1/2"

Fold over braid, as shown above.  Wrap around floral tape.

Then twist the bottoms.

You can also add flowers, by rolling up petals and securing with floral tape.

Using glue gun, glue bud to branch, keep adding buds in the places you think nature would bloom.

Enjoy the process.

Secure in vase, add some moss and voilà you have a faux branch of cherry blossoms, tout suite! Very soon now here on the East Coast, blossoms will be blooming in real time!

P.s.  I used pink, but imagine every color in the rainbow all on one branch!  Wouldn't that be a fun twist!!

You will need:

~Wooden beads for the head

~Pen or paint to create facial features

~Pipe cleaners for body

~Bad scissors to cut pipe cleaners
into body and arms

~Needle-nose pliers (optional) to bend back
pipe cleaners into feet and hands

~Felt for leaves on head and blouse

~Flower blossom for skirt

~Little flowers for headdress

~Glue gun and sticks

~Metallic floss for hanger

~Ribbon for detail
