This Sunday will be my Goddaughters fifth Birthday, so as of recent...

I've been holed up in my studio working on her special gift!

Which is:

A Tea Set for the Faeries

A Tea Set for the Dolls

But most importantly, A Tea Set for Jacqueline!

Fun facts:  The box is a shoe box.  The fabric is silk, a beautiful pair of pants purchased at "The Thrift".  Tea sets have been collected from the dollar store, except The Minist "Faerie Set" from The Hobby Lobby (Doll House Dept).  The green and pink paper, is wall paper~ a thrift store find, trays also the  thrift store. 

O.K. Can you tell I'm into thrifting?  It inspires me so!

The Hunt

What do you want?

My Dad had a theory about
women and shopping. 
He felt shopping was a women's way of hunting,
not that my Dad ever hunted.   
When I am out 'Thrifting' I always  know when I see "it".

The most exhilarating part of the excursion
is finding the unexpected.  The surprise.
My purchases spark creativity.

I have an insatiable appetite for
"The Hunt"

A Thrift Shop Ballet

Here's my friend  Mary Cooper's homage to "Thrifting".

I thought I'd show some "treasure" that came dancing home with me today!

Cloisonné fish asked to be rescued.  No problem. They can meet my mermaids!



These are covers from Italian menus circa 1958. The lady above has fruit in her hat, and you can probably guess what I think about that!  I will give these to Karen Cole from Artsortments.  She likes things Italian.  The second menu if from the Bellagio at Lago di Como!

Now, here's one I brought home just to show you.  When I lifted the back of the frame to find out who this saint was, look who I found oops!

It wouldn't truly be a Ballet if I hadn't found these size 10 -D point slippers!
Poor dears, doesn't look as if they ever learned how to fly.  Still, they inspire me.  I may make little dancers and let them take a ride in a slipper.  Ulla, would you  like one for this  purpose?
