Here is a Magnolia blossom for you. The scent is subtle and sublime, as if part gardenia and part lemon. So fresh and lovely, so fragile and pure. I delight in these days of the May Magnolia and hope you do too.
This dazzlings, delightful time of year makes me feel most alive and happy. The long shadows, awesome bright blue light and colorful leaves fluttering silently in slow motion, transforming into Mother Earth's masterpiece, this Autumn Wonderland, filling my heart and making me dizzy with happiness!
Kay and Larry invited us out to their house for a Crawfish Boil yesterday!
They are some of the most fun people I know and some of the best cooks too!
The day was perfect which is so unlike Texas weather in May! Typically it's already super humid and hot in our neck of the woods. This is the coolest Spring that I can remember, maybe the coolest on record!
It was relaxing to be with friends outside, especially after not feeling well for awhile.
Here's the fresh crawfish and crab from the Gulf, boiling in seasoning.
Later, the guys unloaded a few large steemers of crawfish, crabs, shrimp, artichokes, corn, sauages and pototes into a mini pirot.
I adore crawfish, it's my favorite crustacean by far!
We ate with our fingers on boxes and used lots of paper towels.
Rex the wonderful watched & YES sampled lots of yummies!
Meriam and Sandra during dinner~
We even walked down to the lake. It was truly a magical afternoon ......
Toti and Nell Gifford started Giffords Circus in 2000. Their vision was of a miniature village green circus, packed, rowdy, glamorous - birds and horses and motorbikes bursting from a fluttering white tent - a show for rural families, farmers and film stars. Since 2000 the Giffords Circus company of painted wagons has toured the rural Southwest, moving every week, and entertained over 250,000 people. Giffords Circus has become synonymous for the inspiring musicality that each show is filled with. You can listen to snippets of music from their previous shows by going to their website and linking to The Music Box.
If you want more, watch the fabulous slide show of Giffords Circus at The Guardian.
The first thing that happens is bitsy violets pop up everywhere, just like fairy flowers. I picked this tiny bouquet for my mom, because she notices and reveres each buds and blossoms that cross her path. They delight her!
The Plum Blossoms bloom and look fluffy and pretty.
Next, Wisteria pops and makes life look like The Land of OZ.
I delight in the Dogwoods at dusk~
And cherish pretty Peppermint Camilla blossoms, Mother Natures gifts to us. Spring passes way too quickly, here in our neck of the wood. Last year I began spending as much time outdoors as possible, drinking in the "wild air", as Emerson says, for soon it will be too hot to hang out outdoors, except in the morning.
Happy Weekend to All!
I leave you with a sweet note by Katie, age nine, thoughts about what she loves.
