A Summer Luncheon

A few lovely friends joined my mother and me for a ladies lunch yesterday.  Most of our guests wore stylish hats, some even donned a pair of gloves and it made my heart happy as I adore merrymaking and finery.  We gathered round our sage old dining table and celebrated Summer together, many brought poems and read them aloud.  

We sipped champagne and sampled divine Asparagus Salad, Eggplant Rollatini and a rich Chocolate Caramel Macadamia Tart for dessert, and though we did not dine with a runcible spoon, my mother did recite the Owl and the Pussycat  (to our great delight).

 It was an especially touching afternoon, as our friends traveled hours to join the celebration with us..... a sparkly afternoon, infused with happiness.  One that I will not soon forget!
