Our friend Sharon's birthday is right around the corner, but we kicked off the celebration today at our book club luncheon. Aside from loving to read, she is our frieind who adores and collects shoes. So we cooked up the idea for our table when my mom discovered a crazy pair of silver shoes inscribed; "Wild Diva".
Next, she had me paint the soles, mimicking the shoes of Chrisitan Louboutin. The pastillage magnolia and velvet leaves were my touch. Ironically, the birthday girl wore her own pair of Christian Louboutin to the party!
The place cards featured an engraving of a dainty bow~toed shoe and a miniature silver shoe charm.
The cake was Chocolate Devil's Food, iced with pale pink Swiss Meringue Buttercream.
We used it for the centerpiece.
The lunch was Cobb Salad, (I forgot the hard-boiled eggs), oh well!
We toasted our friend, ate lunch, told stories, and after Sharon blew out her candles and we ate the yummy cake! After lunch my mom gave a great report on another "Wild Diva", Alice Roosevelt Longworth. The book she read and reviewed is called Alice by: Stacy Cordery.
Next, it was time to open gifts. Besides Sharon's affection for shoes, she adores poodles and recently adopted a white rescue pup named Blanche. She's a Standard Poodle.
Becky looked high and low at the Canton Flea Market and found the perfect pair of white porcelain poodle's. It was hilarious..... major points Becky!
Happy Birthday to you Sharon & remember:
If the shoe fits, wear it!
