When I was a little girl of about seven , my parents made me a fantastical puppet theater. Unfortunately I don't have pictures to prove it, but I do in my minds eye.
It was made out of wood, being hinged on either side of the stage. It was black and red with gold "happy" and "sad" theatrical masks on the front. Also, there was a painted ribbon banner that said Theataro Del Constanza! The curtains were red velvet on brass rings. My mom painted a reversible scene that could be changed with butterfly screws. One side had a Castle, and the other was a Enchanted Forest. My Dad even built me a little stool to sit on when I gave my shows. I used hand puppets. I still adore anything having to do with puppets and puppetry, and I love my memory.
These puppets were made in Checkoslovocia. They are on a permanent display in the Atlanta Airport.
